With powerful words like “Being fat takes the fun out of being a kid,” a new in-your-face ad campaign aimed to fight childhood obesity in Georgia is creating a firestorm. According to ABCnews.com, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta chose the straightforward campaign after its survey of two towns in Georgia found 50 percent of parents did not know childhood obesity was a problem and 75 percent of parents with obese children did not think their child was overweight.

With so much publicity about obesity, how is this possible???

Georgia’s Strong4Life campaign says it’s time to stop sugarcoating childhood obesity: “Ignoring this problem is what got us here. It’s time to wake up.”

What do you think? Is this bold approach the way to go?
